King of Foxes offers up something of value: a musical divining rod that pulls the listener to an inner river that is at once both familiar and uncanny. Delivered in a voice equal parts fierce and fragile, frontwoman Olivia Street’s lyrics are poetic and evocative, deftly interwoven with seeing-eye guitar hooks and a cogent understanding of songcraft. King of Foxes was among the Top 3 in the 2019 Bent River Records Recording Competition, and an “Artist to Watch” nominee at the 2018 Edmonton Music Awards. In 2020, they re-releasied their 2019 album Salt & Honey on vinyl, with a previously unreleased bonus track, “No Wrong,” produced by the Polaris-longlisted Beatchild.

Salt & Honey was #42 on CKUA’s Top 100 albums of 2019 list, one of only two independent artists that high on the list. The recording of Salt & Honey was supported by the Edmonton Arts Council, and received considerable spins on the CBC and Stingray, reaching #113 on the Earshot charts, as well as charting on college radio across the U.S. King of Foxes has also been awarded a FACTOR Artist Development grant (2019), a Telus STORYHIVE grant (2018), and a 10k20 grant from the Jim Pattison Group (2015). Notable performances include BreakOut West (Whitehorse, 2019), Canadian Music Week (Toronto, 2019), and Indie Week (Toronto, 2018, 2019), as well as opening as direct support for Mother Mother (MacEwan Fall Fest, 2019), AJR (K-Days, 2019), Coeur de Pirate (Winspear Centre, 2019), and J.D. McPherson (Starlite Room, 2019).
